here, 5x is on both sides, so they cancel out. hence value of x can't be determined.

5x -2 = -2 + 5x

Add 2 to both sides to get 5x = 5x

Because this is true then any value of x will still make the equation true.

This means there are infinite solutions.

Answer: a) infinite solution
