If we classify the shapes shown in the picture, we can see that there are 4 triangles and one square.

First, we need to find out the formulas for the areas of these shapes.

Formula for area of triangle;

A = BH x 1/2

where b represents the base, and h represents the height

Formula for area of square;

A = a^2

where 'a' represents the length of one side of a square

Now we just plug in the actual values to these formulas:-

(Finding area of square first)

A = a^2

A = 2^2

A = 4

Now, we find the area of one triangle and multiply it by 4 because there are four of each of those triangles.

A = BH x 1/2 x 4(no. of triangles)

A = 2(3) x 1/2 x 4

A = 6 x 1/2 x 4

A = 6/2 x 4

A = 3 x 4

A = 12

Now we add the two areas together;

4 + 12 = 16 square feet
