Ida B. Wells contributed significantly to the civil rights movement. As a progressive is defined as a person advocating or implementing social reform or new, liberal ideas, she can be classified as one. Her achievements helped win the battle for race and gender equality. She confounded the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), which may have been the first black women’s suffrage group.
