Blake is working his way through school. He works two part-time jobs for a total of 22 hours a week. Job A pays $5.70 per hour, and Job B pays $7.30 per hour. How many hours did he work at each job the week that he made $141.40.

first u need to make 2 equations, with 2 variables and the pay per hour for both jobs and let the first equal to the total pay at the end of the week

5.7x + 7.3y = 141.4

then the 2nd equation, let it equal to the total hours worked:

x + y = 22

you then make one of the variables the subject of the formula:

x= 22 - y

and substitute that formula into the first equation you would've made:

5.7(22-y) + 7.3y = 141.4 in this instance you then solve for y:

where y= 10hrs

given that y=10 you can then substitute it into either of the 2 equations:

x+y=22

x= 22-y

x= 22 - 10

x= 12hrs

therefore stating that Blake worked 12 hrs at job A and 10 hrs at job B
