- 2n² - n - 8

Explanation:

(n - 4)(n + 2) - n(3n - 1) ← expand the product of factors using FOIL

= n² - 2n - 8 - n(3n - 1) ← distribute parenthesis by n

= n² - 2n - 8 - 3n² + n ← collect like terms

= - 2n² - n - 8
