The disease model of addiction is now established based on overwhelming evidence that addiction is like a disease of the brain, where a substance or behavior can produce a need to use drugs/alcohol or behave in a compulsive manner with known adverse consequences.

It may also be Moral Model since the "Disease Model" and "Moral Model" are very similar, but I find the "Disease Model" a bit more related to the man's problem.Hope this helps!
