X = dryer
(X+79) = washer
X + (X+79) = $1029
Therefore, x+x+79= 1029 or 2x+79=1029
Solve for x

2x = 1029-79
2x = 950

2x/2 = 950/2

X= $475 The price of the dryer is $475

Solution :

According to the question, first we need to assume a variable for the dryer then we need to add $79 with the variable for getting the washer, after which doing their total we can get the value

Let's assume The Dryer be x

Now,

The washer is $79 more than that of the dryer

So, the washer be x + $79

Total cost $1029

Getting variable's value

  • x + x + $79 = $1029

  • 2x + $79 = $1029

  • 2x = $1029 - $79

  • 2x = $950

  • x = $950/2

  • x = $475

Now, Cost of dryer = x = $475

โ˜… Therefore, the cost of Dryer is $475 โ˜…
