Answer:

length = 10 ft, width = 9 ft

Explanation:

The opposite sides are congruent

The perimeter (P) = 38 and is the sum of the 4 sides, then

15 - 2x + 15 - 2x + x + 7 + x + 7 = 38 , that is

- 2x + 44 = 38 ( subtract 44 from both sides )

- 2x = - 6 ( divide both sides by - 2 )

x = 3

Then

length = x + 7 = 3 + 7 = 10 ft

width = 15 - 2x = 15 - 2(3) = 15 - 6 = 9 ft
