In sociology, socialization is the process of internalizing the norms and ideologies of society. Socialization encompasses both learning and teaching and is thus "the means by which social and cultural continuity are attained".

Socialization is the lifelong process through which people learn the values and norms of a given society. It is a process through which the younger generation learns the adult role which it has to play subsequently. It is a continuous process in the life of an individual and it continues from generation to generation.

Socialization is a process where people are taught to be proficient members of a society in all ways, such as social norms, beliefs, etc.
