Answer: 9 = k

Explanation:

12x + 17 = (4 . 3k + 4 . 2) + k

12x + 17 = 12x + 8 + k

12x + 17 - 8 = 12x +8 - 8 + k

12x + 9 = 12x + k

12x - 12x + 9 = 12x - 12x + k

9 = k
