First you Assume that the height is the height of the triangle and the length is the base of the triangle, than you do the work.

V=1/2 • b • h • w

3.5=1/2• 2.5 • 1.4 • w

3.5=1.25 • 1.4) • w

3.5=1.75*w

w= 3.5 ÷ 1.75

w=2
