A ladder that is 10 feet long leaning against a wall perpendicular to the ground. The point at which the ladder touches the walk is 8 feet above the ground. How far away is the base of the ladder from the bottom of the wall ?

Gonna use the Pythagorean Theorem: a² + b² = c²

a² + 8² = 10²

a² + 64 = 100

Subtract both sides by 64

a² + 64 = 100

-64 -64

a² = 36

Square root both sides

√a² = √36

a = 6 = length between bottom of the wall to the base of the ladder
