  • The distance is the slope/gradient
  • In the pythogaras theorem
    c^(2) = a^(2) + b^(2),

c represents the slope and a and b represent the two shorter sides of the right angled triangle ( x,y)

  • x = -9 - (-5 ) = -9 +5 = -4
  • y = -2 - (-5) = -2 +5 = 3


c^(2) =
-4^(2) + 3^(2)

= 16 + 9

= 25,

therefore
\sqrt{c^(2) } =
√(25)

c = 5
