Given:

Standard error = 4

Population standard deviation = 16

To find:

The value of n.

Solution:

The formula of standard error is:

SE=(\sigma)/(√(n))

Where, SE is standard error ,
\sigma is population standard deviation and n is the total number of elements.

Substituting
SE=4,\sigma=16 in the above formula, we get

4=(16)/(√(n))

√(n)=(16)/(4)

√(n)=4

Taking square on both sides, we get

n=4^2

n=16

Therefore, the value of n is 16.
