Explanation:

6(x – 1) = 9(x + 2)

Add 6 to both sides

6x - 6 + 6 = 9x + 18 + 6

Simplify

6x = 9x + 24

Subtract 9x from both sides

6x - 9x = 9x + 24 - 9x

Simplify

-3x = 24

Divide both sides by: -3

-3x/-3 = 24/-3

Simplify

x = -8
