Answer: y = ½x - 2

Explanation:

Slope-intercept form: y = mx + b

  • m = slope =
    (y_(2) -y_(1) )/(x_(2) -x_(1)) =(3-2)/(10-8) =(1)/(2)
  • b = y-intercept ⇒ Substitute in a given point to the function to find b

y = ½x + b

2 = ½(8) + b

2 = 8/2 + b

2 = 4 + b

2 - 4 = b

b = -2

y = ½x - 2
