Answer: -3, 4

Explanation:

  • Integer #1 = x
  • Integer #2 = y

x · y = -12

x + y = 1 ⇒ y = 1 - x

Bring the y-value(1 - x) into x · y = -12:

x(1 - x) = -12 \\x-x^(2)=-12\\-x^(2)+x+12=0\\-(x^(2)-x-12)=0\\(x+3)(x-4)=0\\x=-3,x=4

Bring the x-values into y = 1 - x and see if the values multiply to -12:

x = -3 ⇒ 1 - (-3) = 4 ⇒ 4 * -3 = -12

x = 4 ⇒ 1 -4 = -3 ⇒ -3 * 4 = -12
