22) a) If 2 angles are on a straight line then they are supplemental angles. Supplemental angles add up to 180 degrees

b) (x+1) + (3x+9) = 180

Combine like terms

4x + 10 = 180

4x = 170

divide both sides by 4

x = 42.5

so the 2 angles are 1) 42.5 + 1 = 43.5 and 2) 3(42.5) + 9= 136.5
