The Gulf of Mexico is a very long and big area! It hits the southern parts of some states! It hits mainly Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, etc. Its still part of the US development since it hits those states. The reason why its so important to the US is because its such a big amount of water and it actually had helped the US economy, causing a good US development.
