Explanation:

(f - g)(x)

= f(x) - g(x)

= 3x² + 1 - (1 - x)

= 3x² + 1 - 1 + x

= 3x² + x

Then

(f- g)(- 2)

= 3(- 2)² + 2

= 3(4) + 2

= 12 + 2

= 14
