im genuinely not the best at this but i THINK another option could be "Knowing I wouldn't get a reply, I continued to stare at my screen... that's when I sent the text." LOL

One correct way to write this could be:
Regardless of knowing I wouldn’t get a reply back, I kept staring at my screen as I sent the text.
