Explanation:

whenever exponents are separated by parentheses, multiply them

when dividing (and bases are the same), subtract exponents

anything raised to a negative exponent becomes a fraction with 1 in the numerator and the term goes in the denominator with a positive exponent

ex, 4^-1 equals 1/4; 3^-2 equals 1/9

[(-4)³·c^-4] ÷ 12c^-8

= -64c⁵/12

= -16c⁵/3
