-6(2 + a) = -48

The -6 can be distributed.

-12 - 6a = -48
-6a = -48 + 12
-6a/-6 = -36/-6

Double negatives make a positive.

a = 6

Answer:

a = 6

Explanation:

–6(2 + a) = –48

Divide each side by -6

–6(2 + a) / -6 = –48/-6

2+a = 8

Subtract 2 from each side

2+a-2 = 8-2

a = 6
