A rectangular prism tank has a base with a length of 40 inches, a width of 35 inches and a height of 12 inches. What is the volume of water in the tank if the tank is filled with water to 75% capacity ?

Applying,

V = lwh................. Equation 1

Where V = volume of the prism, l = length of the base, w = width of the base, h = height of the prism.

From the question,

Given: l = 40 inches, w = 35 inches, h = 12 inches

Substitute these values into equation 2

V = 40(35)(12)

V = 16800 in³

If the volume of water is 75% the capacity of tank.

Therefore,

Volume of water = 0.75(V)

Volume of water = 0.75(16800)

Volume of water = 12600 in³
