f(1) and f(-2) means to replace x in the equation with the number inside the parenthesis and then solve.

f(1) = (1)^2 -3(1) -f = 1 -3 -f = -2-f

f(-2) = (-2)^2 -3(-2) -f = 4 + 6 - f = 10-f
