1. Subtract 2 from both sides of the equation

4x + 2 = 7x - 13

4x + 2 - 2 = 7x - 13 - 2

2. Simplify

4x + 2 - 2 = 7x - 13 - 2 -----> 4x = 7x - 13 - 2 -----> 4x = 7x - 15

3. Subtract 7x from both sides of the equation

4x = 7x - 15

4x - 7x = 7x - 15 - 7x

4. Simplify

4x - 7x = 7x - 15 - 7x -----> -3x = 7x - 15 - 7x -----> -3x = -15

5. Divide both sides of the equation by the same term

-3x = -15

-3x/-3 = -15/-3

6. Simplify

-3x/-3 = -15/-3

x = -15/-3

x = 5

7. Solution

x = 5

Hope that helps! :D

Moving the variable to the left hand side and change its sign so id be 4x + 2 - 7x = -13
