"Ganas" means having a great motivation to accomplish something, not giving up and focusing on how good the result will be. This word was used by Professor Jaime Escalante when he taught students at Garfield High School. He taught this word to students to encourage them to overcome the difficulty they had in mathematics, showing that with the right motivation they were able not only to understand mathematical concepts well, but also to achieve anything they wanted. This inspired students to challenge themselves and try anything they felt like doing, even if they thought they couldn't, knowing that the first step to achieving those things was motivation.
