Solution:

It should be noted:

  • If a fraction is being divided, the divisor will become it's reciprocal and the sign changes to a multiplication sign.

Finding the quotient.

  • -4/9 ÷ -1/3
  • => -4/9 x -3

Multiplying both terms.

  • => -4/9 x -3
  • => 12/9

Simplifying the fraction

  • => 12/9
  • => 4 x 3/3 x 3
  • => 4/3

Converting the fraction into mixed fraction

  • => 4/3 = 1 1/3 (Option D)

Option D is correct.

Answer:

\sf 1(1)/(3)

Step-by-step explanation:

\hookrightarrow \sf (-4)/(9) / (-1)/(3)

manipulate sides by changing signs

\hookrightarrow \sf(-4)/(9) *(3)/(-1)

simplify by multiplication

\hookrightarrow \sf (-12)/(-9)

the negatives cancels out

\hookrightarrow \sf (12)/(9)

simplify

\hookrightarrow \sf (4)/(3)

turn this into mixed fraction

\hookrightarrow \sf 1(1)/(3)
