Q 4: A triangle has vertices A (1,6), B (1, 2) and C (6,2). What is the area of the triangle?

10 units

Explanation:

point A has the coordinate (1,6) and point B has the coordinates (1,2), so the difference in the y values will give height of the triangle which is 6-2 = 4

similarly the point B has the coordinates (1,2) and point C has the coordinates (6,2). Calculate the difference in x values which is 6-1 = 5 which is the base of the triangle

now use the area of a triangle formula which is 1/2 * b * h

= 1/2 * 5 * 4

= 1/2 * 20

= 10
