Y=-x+10 equation 1

y=2x+4 equation 2

-x+10=2x+4. Substitute y of first equation into 2nd equation

-x-2x+10=4

-3x=4-10

-3x=-6

x=2

solve for y by inserting x value into either equation

y=-x+10

y=-2+10

y=8

check answer

y=2x+4

8=2(2)+4

8=4+4

8=8
