M.A.N.I.A or Militarism, Alliances, Nationalism, Imperialism, Assassination
Complicated alliances were formed during WW1 pulling many countries into the conflict as a way to support those said alliances. The assassination of archduke ferdinand led to tensions between Serbia and Austria-Hungary which initiated the war.
