Given:

The matrix is
[-8].

To find:

The determinant of given matrix, i.e,
|-8|.

Solution:

If a matrix is A of order
1* 1, then the value of the determinant of that matrix is equal to the element of that matrix.

For example: Let A be the matrix of order
1* 1.

A=[a]

Then,

|A|=a

The given matrix is
[-8]. So, the determinant of given matrix, i.e,
|-8|, is

|-8|=-8

Therefore, the value of determinant of given matrix is -8.
