Okay, so the hearts tops area can be figured out with a regular circle area calculation.

A = π r² =

3.14 × 2 × 2=

6.28 × 2 ≈

12.566in ² .

So we could divided by two, but since the two half circles (the top of the hearts) are of the same size, we don't have to. So now we only have to figure out the area for the square. The radius shows us that one side of the square is equal to 4 in. So 4² or 4 × 4 = 16 in².

No all we do is add the areas: 12.566 + 16 = 28.566 in²

Now to round it: 28.566 in² ≈ 28.57 in²
