- No. The sound frequency is too high for most people to hear, but animals such as dogs can hear it just fine.
- Bats get around in the dark using echolocation (sound bouncing off objects in their surroundings.) Their sharp sense of hearing makes up for their bad eyesight.
- Hearing Loss can be caused by genetic conditions, infections, viruses, aging or exposure to loud sounds for a long period of time.
- How to approach Deaf and Hard of Hearing people? Treat them like everyone else. They are people with opinions, lives and dreams. Just understand that they am not able to hear you very clearly. Don't cover your mouth when you talk, don't turn your head away or speak from a distance where you cannot be seen. Tap on their shoulder if you need their attention, or flick on and off the lights. Don't be invasive when asking how they lost their hearing if they don't know you.
