The War of 1812 was essentially the second American Revolution. It was America’s second fight with the British to remain independent. If America had lost, it would give Britain the opportunity to come in and colonize the country again. However, it occurred over 30 years after the American Revolution, and America was more well-equipped to take on the British Empire. When they beat the British a second time, it made a significant blow to the Empire, and firmly planted America as a major nation on the world stage.
