HELP ME OR I WILL FAIL MATH!the sum of 2 numbers is 49. Twice the smaller number is 97 less than 3 times the larger number. What are the 2 numbers?

x +y= 49 -----(1)

2x= 3y -97 -----(2)

From (1):

x= 49 -y -----(3)

Substitute (3) into (2):

2(49 -y)= 3y -97

Expand:

98 -2y= 3y -97

Bring y terms to one side, constant to the other:

3y +2y= 98 +97

Simplify:

5y= 195

Divide both sides by 5:

y= 195 ÷5

y= 39

Substitute y= 39 into (3):

x= 49 -39

x= 10

Thus, the two numbers are 10 and 39.
