The play ends with Mama coming back for her plant. What do you think the plant symbolizes? Why do you think Hansberry chose to end the play this way?

the plant is a symbol of her hope for herself and her family. by the end of the play she no longer wants the plant because she no longer needs to hope for her dreams, she has achieved them.

Answer:

The most overt symbol in the play, Mama's plant represents both Mama's care and her dream for her family. The plant also symbolizes her dream to own a house and, more specifically, to have a garden and a yard. With her plant, she practices her gardening skills.

Step-by-step explanation:

I couldn’t fill out the why do you think part but I could do the first one for you.
