A circular flower garden has a diameter of 16 feet. At the center of the garden is a circular pool 5 feet in diameter. If a coin is tossed at random into the garden, what is the probability that the coin will land in the pool.

Also,

A' = πr²..................... Equation 2

Where A' = Area of the circular pool, r = radius of the circular pool.

If a coin is tossed at random into the garden, the probability that the coin will land in the pool is

Pr = Area of the pool(A')/Area of the garden(A)

Pr = A'/A....................... Equation 3

Substituting equation 1 and 2 into equation 3

Pr = πr²/πR².

Pr = r²/R².................... Equatio 4

Given: R = 16/2 = 8 feet, r = 5/2 = 2.5 feet.

Substitute these values into equation 4

Pr = 2.5²/8²

Pr = 6.25/64

Pr = 0.0977
