Despite this unifying force, the soviet union became so aggressive and anti-democratic they split the country of germany with a wall leading to further bad blood, and after this, the relationship basically went wild. The two countries fought many proxy wars and challenged each other in innovation and the space race, aswell as nuclear arms they gained a very hostile and cold hatred for each other countries.
