A truck is 20cm long on a scale drawing. The scale is 1cm = 50cm (1:50). How long is the truck in real life?

You replace the 1 in (1:50) with 20. If 1cm is 50cm than 20cm would be 1,000cm (20x50). The answer would be (20:1,000) or the truck is 1,000cm in real life.
