Answer: Depressants are medicines, sedatives, tranquilizers, or hypnotics that are made to inhibit the function of the central nervous system ( CNS). Basically Depressants reduce arousal or stimulation, in various areas of the brain. Depressants calm nerves and relax muscles to help ease anxiety, panic, acute stress reactions, and sleep disorder. One type of depressant drug would be Klonopin, which is very commonly used.
