First analyse the cartoon (Figure 4.8), then discuss
whether the Supreme Court was justified in blocking
New Deal legislation. You need to ensure you reach a
conclusion based on evidence. Start by identifying the
cases for and against the actions of the Supreme Court
justices. Now weigh up the two sides. Which side has the
more convincing argument? Do different people in the
debate hold different views?
Now write your conclusion in such a way that you show
that different interpretations are possible, and explaining
what your own view is and how you reached it.
