Answer:

26 units

Explanation:

A rectangle has vertices A(0, 0), B(0, 9), C(4, 9), and D(4, 0). What is the perimeter of the rectangle

We have to find the length of the sides of the rectangle using the formula below

= √(x2 - x1)² + (y2 - y1)² when given vertices (x1, y1) and (x2, y2)

For side AB

A(0, 0), B(0, 9)

= √(0 - 0)² + (9 - 0)²

= √0 + 81

= √81

= 9 units

For side BC

B(0, 9), C(4, 9)

= √(4 - 0)² + (9 - 9)²

= √4² + 0²

= √16

= 4 units

For side CD

C(4, 9), and D(4, 0)

= √(4 - 4)² + (9 - 0)²

= √0² + 9²

= √81

= 9 units

For side AD

A(0, 0), D(4, 0).

= √(4 - 0)² + (0 - 0)²

= √4² + 0

= √16

= 4 units

We can see than

AB = CD = 9 units

BC = AD = 4 units

The perimeter of a rectangle = 2(L + W)

From the above calculation

Length = 4 units

Width = 9 units

Perimeter = 2(4 + 9) units

= 2 × 13 units

= 26 units
