A convergent boundry forms where two plates collide. When a two less-

dense continental plate collide, the southern plate sinks under the edge of
the northern plate in a process called subduction.

It’s also known as a destructive plate boundary.

The oceanic crust subducts, melts and rises to form volcanoes. The plates may get ‘stuck’ at one point, oceanic crust is still trying to subduct, pressure builds up, plates get ‘unstuck’ triggering huge esrthquakes.
