in a class room 1/6 of students are wearing blue shirts 2/3 are wearing white shirts there are 12 students how many are wearing shirts other than blue shirts?

what we know: 12 students, 2/3 are wearing blue, 1/6 are wearing red

first you have to make the fractions have the same denominator(2/3=4/6)

theres also 1/6 that are not wearing blue or red (1/6+4/6=5/6, 6/6-5/6=1/6)

so that makes it 2/6 of the students not wearing blue(1/6+1/6=2/6)

simplify(2/6=1/3)

1/3 of 12 is 4 (12÷3=4)
