By the vertical angle theorem which states that angle opposite to each other is equal, we know the whole angle opposite to the angle that is 90 degrees (since it has a little square on the angle) is also ninety degrees.

However, that angle is split into two more angles one that is 22 degrees and the other being x degrees. Yet both of them added up equal to 90 degrees.

Thus we get the equation:

x + 22 = 90

x = 68 degrees
