Coby sells apples and bananas at his fruit store. He charges $6 for a pound of bananas, and $8 for a pound of apples. If a customer buys a total of 13 pounds of fruit and is charged $92, how many pounds of bananas did he buy? Also, how many pounds of apples did he get? Show all work for full credit.

7 pounds of apples and 6 pounds of bananas. Explanation in image. In a nutshell, if you take b+a=13 and set it so we’re figuring things out in terms of a, we get b= 13-a.
Then, you can put 6b+8a=92 and and substitute b for 13-a. Then, have 6(13-a)+8a=92. Simplify and solve for a. You get a equals 7, so there is 7 pounds of apple. Then, subtract 7 from 13 to get b= 6. So, there is 6 pounds of bananas. Hope it helps
