Answer:

I believe this is a metaphor about depression, in which the door and windows refer to the narators heart and soul. Perhaps the “breath of the world” is talking about bringing happiness upon them. Obviously they don’t want to feel deepressed though and so they are trying their best not to let negative emotions control them.
