Me. Pennington had 6 inches left over.
Explanation.
2 1/4 feet is equal to 27 inches. If he used 21 inches, then he'd had 6 inches left over; 27-21=6.
Have a good day!

According to Poirot, why is Pennington incapable of committing the murders? Do you agree with his line of reasoning? If his line of reasoning is correct, who could still possibly be the killer?
