Explanation:

he should have done

4(x-1) = -1(6x-36)

=> 4x-4 = -6x+36

=> 4x-4+4 = -6x +36+4

=> 4x+6x = -6x+6x+40

=> 10x = 40

=> (10x)/10 = 40/10

=> x = 4.
